After being forced into retirement by early signs of onset dementia, former CIA agent, Evan Lake (Nicolas Cage), discovers that his old tormentor, Jihadist Muhammad Banir, has been found alive after two decades. When Lake learns that Banir has been receiving experimental medical treatments to survive, he enlists the help of a disgraced young agent and journeys from Bucharest to Khartoum in order to confront his old nemesis.
